Week 16, Post 2

Social media marketing should be a big part of any company’s business and marketing plan. I feel like I have just scratched the surface on how to maximize social media marketing, however I do have a newfound understanding on what possibilities there are to use and how to investigate them further.     I have learned how important it is to be strategic about what you post, the timing and regularity of the posts, the type of post you make, who you are trying to reach, and what you are trying to accomplish through your posts.  I also learned that customer service is a part of the social media plan as well.  I now understand that monitoring comments are critical in your business from a customer service and sales standpoint.  And, what an opportunity that is available to also monitor comments from your competitors’ pages.  I loved the example of the hotel in Las Vegas where a customer was complaining about check-in and then a competing hotel posted an empath...

Week 16, Post 1

It has been so helpful to learn about the various social media platforms and the tools that are available.  My business would benefit primarily from Instagram (both regular posts & stories) as well as Facebook posts and ads.  My business would also benefit from doing a blog and newsletter.   Facebook will be best for gaining awareness for my business as well as utilizing my large network of friends.  I will be posting 2x a week showing projects, tutorials and people together having fun doing the crafting parties.  Of course, until the stay at home orders are lifted, there will be a shift towards family crafts, projects to decorate the house for holidays and tutorials for doing crafts and projects at home.  After the orders are lifted, I would still post 2x a week for 1 - 2 months until I get things off the ground.  Once I have a solid number of followers and several parties under my belt, I will begin to test Facebook ads.  My budget is v...

Week 13, Post 2

It is important to carefully consider your objective before deciding what ad format you will use for a Facebook ad.  Are you trying to attract people to your page and just create awareness?  Do you want them to look more into your company or remember your product when considering a purchase?  Or do you want someone to act now and purchase?  Facebook does a great job helping you determine which ad to create through their online ad creation tool.  All of the objectives are categorized under one of the following: awareness, consideration, and conversions The first question that will be asked is, "What is the most important outcome I want from this ad?"  Ad formats you can currently choose include: video ads, photo ads, slideshow ads, carousel ads, stories, messenger ads, collection ads, playable ads and Instant Experiences (formerly Canvas).  After reviewing the various types of ads, my business would benefit most from and have the budget for pho...

Week 15, Post 1

My analytics for my Facebook page didn't have enough information available so I am happy to be provided analytics for Professor Faulk's business.  I am making the assumption it is for her brewery.  These analytics are for her Facebook business page from November 4th - December 2nd. The number of people talking about the page has 60% men and 39% women engaged.  The highest number of people engaged by age group is wide spread amongst the ages from 25-54 with age group 25-34 being the highest at 16%, next age 35-44 at 15% and age 45-54 at 14%. Women between the ages of 45-54 are the highest group talking about the page.  I found it interesting to see that there is a fanbase in Havana, Cuba in the mix among more local cities and counties. The majority of those talking about the page are from San Diego with San Diego, Vista and Oceanside being the highest number in that group. When comparing the above with the number of people who had any content from the page ...

Week 14, Post 1

I have chosen to do ads with Facebook for my fictitious business.  I chose my first ad to be appropriate for our quarantine times.  Since my business is for art parties, I decided to target the absence of social parties right now due to our stay at home orders and offer virtual art parties.  Many of us are longing to be with our friends again, so I thought this would be effective.  I targeted women between the ages of 21 - 65plus, those who like wine and are social.  I also included the "learn more" button as well. For my second Facebook ad, I decided to use an artwork piece to promote the business.  My objective was to add more likes to my page and gain followers.   I have a similar target:  women, ages 21-65plus those who like wine and added restaurants.   Finally with my third ad, I would like to reach my secondary market which is young families.  Also targeting families who may need something new to bre...

Week 13, Post 1

When I see an effective sponsored post on Facebook, I really don't realize that it is an ad. I'm normally drawn to it because it is visually appealing.  If it seems like it is a post from one of the pages I follow, I will likely stop to read it.  If it looks too much like an ad, I will typically skip it.  Some of the things I have noticed with ads that reach me is they will sometimes use emojis in their copy.  To me, that is part of making it look like it is a post from a friend rather than a business.  Of course, there are exceptions.  I am no stranger to being drawn to a cute outfit, interior design style and a sale, so if a brand I am familiar with posts their new collection I will often click to see more.  I get frustrated  when I click however and I have to sign in to something or jump through a couple of screens to get to what was originally posted.  I really just want to go to straight to that item or offer.   Social media has...
